Lucy's Adoption Story (Introduction)

Today is a special day. One year ago today we got a call to come pick up a 5 day old baby girl. I will write more on that later but I am going to start from the very beginning.

Let me clarify some things. I wrote a story of Ivy's adoption. I put it on my former blog. I did it because I actually made it into a hard bound book for Ivy to have. I honestly love these adoption stories because it paints a clear picture of the things that Matt and I went through and what God did in our lives during that time and trial. I want my girls to see how much God loved them even at the very beginning of their lives and how good He really is.

The problem? Sometimes I am too much of an open book and parts of Ivy's story did hurt some people's feelings. So with that, if there are parts that seem vauge I am sorry but you will have to live with that. I am an open book but that doesn't mean everyone is and I need to respect that out of love.

So....here we go! When we adopted Ivy, I swore I would only ever do a private adoption. (No foster care! Too risky!) I loved Ivy's birthmom and was so happy with our 1st adoption. But...the Lord had other plans and it all started with a little boy named Everett..... To be continued!

Celebrating Lucy

We had an adoption/birthday party for Lulu this weekend. Lot's of food, fun, and fellowship to celebrate our little girl. I had been praying that Lucy would be adopted before her 1st birthday and she was! (Her birthday is Thursday) God even had her adopted before her party. He is so good and kind!

Lucy's Adoption Day

I am so emotionally exhausted from the day but I thought I better get some pictures up of Lucy's adoption day so you could see them. My BF ,Wendy Penberthy came to court and so did my amazing sister, Hollie (who Lucy is named after..Lucy Ann) It was a great day! Here is Aunt Hollie with Lulu.Swearing in.
Signing the papers
Tearing up as the Judge was explaining that she was going to be our daughter.

The Judge always gives the adoptee a stuffed animal when they are adopted. Ivy got one today too.

New Reading Material....

I am really excited about my latest reading material! My friend,Kelli, who just moved to Franklin,TN., sent me this cookbook as an early birthday present. My girls and I are going to fly out and see her in October and we are going to go to this restaurant. It was featured on my lady Paula Deen's show. I read the cook book cover to cover. I even had to stop in the middle to go in the kitchen and get a snack because it was making me so hungry! I CAN NOT WAIT! Then I got to get one of the cook books on my wishlist this week. I have only read part of it and I can't wait to read the rest. The colors, pictures, and decorating in the book are so beautiful! If you haven't visited the Farm Chicks blog, you can on my blog roll. Now that I have started a diet, how long will it take before I make something in these books!

Just a little something I threw together

I am starting to put together the desk in my room so I took a little bit of time last night and recovered a bulletin board. I will probably hang it. I had some floral fabric but I think Matt is on flower over load in our bedroom so I tried to do something different.
You can slightly see the other fabric behind mine but this type of board would have ruined when I took it apart. You won't see it once I have pictures on it.
I just used random buttons and ribbon that I had so that I wouldn't spend any money. I think I had gotten the board at a garage sale for a $1 with the plans to recover it all along.
